The £37 million duo were in the stands as the Reds secured three valuable points against Ronald Koeman's side.

Liverpool left it late to secure victory against Southampton - but Brendan Rodgers was delighted when Daniel Sturridge scored a late winner for his side nevertheless.

The Reds eventually ran out 2-1 winners against the Saints, though they were pushed to the very limit in their Premier League opener at Anfield.

Raheem Sterling opened the scoring in the first half with a fine finish after being set up by Jordan Henderson's superb long-range pass (hit with his weaker foot).

However, Dusan Tadic provided a brilliant pass of his own to set up Nathaniel Clyne as Southampton equalised in the second half. Then, the visitors pressed for a winner.

The Kop was tense as Liverpool pushed for a solution - and they found one as Sterling headed towards goal late on, with Sturridge on hand to tap the ball home with the deftest of touches.

Encouragingly for Liverpool fans, new £12 million signing Alberto Moreno was pictured watching from the stands, while Adam Lallana - bought for £25m - was also present to watch the Reds in action against his former side.

Anfield's first league clash of the season provided a superb series of images and, here, we give you a selection of the very best of them. Enjoy...
