No regrets for West Ham pitch invader after Tottenham free-kick

West Ham Upton Park

Jordan Dunn could be facing a 10-year ban after running onto the pitch during West Ham’s Premier League opener with Tottenham .

A young West Ham United fan, who ran on to the pitch and took a free-kick during the Irons' Premier League clash with Tottenham, claims his only regret is that he failed to score from the set-piece.

Speaking in an interview with Joe Walker from Kent Online, the 22-year-old revealed that although he is now facing a significant fine as well as a ban from Upton Park and that it was a mistake to invade the pitch "it was definitely worth it."

"I think I ran about 80 yards. I don't remember looking at any players - I only had my eyes on the ball,” Dunn recalls.

But despite registering a shot on target with his effort the avid football fan admitted he regretted having to use his weaker left foot to take the kick.

He told the news provider: "If I had used my right I probably would have fallen over. It wasn't a bad strike though...I just wish I'd used the outside of my right foot and buried it bottom corner."

The inebriated Hammers fan was eventually brought to the ground by the ground staff before being carted off to Forest Green police station, where he spent the night.

Due to attend Thames Magistrates’ Court next month, Dunn is facing a 10-year ban from the Hammers ground and a £5,000 fine under the Football Offences Act.

Despite the recklessness of his behaviour however, footage of the free-kick effort was broadcast by both Sky Sports and the BBC’s flagship football programme Match of the Day.

He still has some way to beat this Russian fan, however, who invaded the pitch during a game between Spartak Moscow and Saturn Moscow to convert a penalty for the former.

With the designated Spartak penalty taker proving slow off the mark, the unnamed fan nipped in to convert past the waiting goalkeeper in a piece on pitch-invasion tom-foolery that prompted cheers from the waiting crowd.
