Roma make attempt to hijack Arsenal’s Rabiot bid

Arsenal are reportedly in talks with Paris Saint-Germain star Adrien Rabiot but Roma are still keen to lure him.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot seems to be headed for Arsenal but reports in Italy suggest that Roma have made an audacious attempt to steal him away.

The highly-rated 19-year-old is an authoritative midfield presence and many believe he could be exactly the player Arsenal need.

Having turned down a contract extension, Rabiot will be a free agent at the end of the current season, which means PSG will probably have to sell him now.

Arsenal have been given permission to talk to Rabiot and seem to be in pole position to agree a deal with him.

Juventus are also said to be lurking, but Roma may be the biggest threat to Arsenal getting their man.

Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini was in London and Paris last weekend and Il Tempo believes that he was attempting to sneak ahead in the race for Rabiot.

Sabatini was said to be discussing the potential sale of star defender Mehdi Benatia to either Chelsea or Manchester United and took the chance to make an advance on the PSG player.

However, the Italian press also insist that Arsenal are strong favourites to land Rabiot, suggesting that Sabatini's mission was in vain.

Would Adrien Rabiot be a good signing for Arsenal?
