Watford are being linked to Palermo wide man Fabio Daprelà after the two clubs spoke on Friday, according to Italian reports.

Watford could swoop for former Switzerland Under-21 international Fabio Daprelà within the next few days.

Daprelà, who is now 23, has played in England before having worn a West Ham shirt in 2009. He made eight appearances in all competitions before signing for Brescia when Gianfranco Zola was sacked.

The ex-Grasshopper man represented Switzerland at Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 level as well as at the Olympics in London in 2012, but he is yet to secure a senior call.

Italian reports suggest that Watford have been keeping an eye on Daprelà for some time and may have made their move after getting in touch with Palermo at the end of last week.

The left-sided player has reportedly been told that he doesn't feature in coach Giuseppe Iachini's plans for next season.

Watford director Gianluca Nani is the man who was responsible for signing Daprelà at West Ham and also instigated his move to Brescia.

However, Serie A side Genoa are also said to be looking at Daprelà and could challenge Watford for his signature.

Palermo have just been promoted back to Serie A and are in the process of trying to build a squad capable of staying afloat in the top flight.
