Crucial goal, 3 Key Passes: Tottenham whizkid Pritchard outstanding in Brentford win

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Alex Pritchard impressed as Brentford won 2-1 at Blackpool.

Tottenham youngster Alex Pritchard was on the winning side as loan club Brentford won 2-1 away at Blackpool.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder was instrumental in the Bees recording their first Championship win of the season.

Pritchard, on a season long deal in west London, scored Brentford's opener, bringing them level after Nathan Delfouneso had put the Tangerines 1-0 up.

While teammate and midfield partner Stuart Dallas scored the winner in the second half, it was Pritchard who stood out.

He had three shots on goal in total, more than any Brentford player, with two on target and one finding the back of the net.

Pritchard also provided three key passes, touching the ball 87 times - more than any other player on the pitch.

There was room for improvement however, of the 10 crosses he put into the box, only one found a teammate, leading to a pass accuracy of 78%, in comparison to midfield partner Stuart Dallas (88%).

Defensively, Pritchard put in a shift, making three tackles and recording one interception, and found himself fouled five times as Blackpool struggled to get to grips with him.

He signed a new two-year deal at Spurs this summer, and the idea is that a season in the Championship, having been on loan at League One Swindon Town last season, will prepare him to make an impact in the Premier League.

There have been high hopes of the youngster at Spurs for a number of seasons, triggered by a particularly impressive display in the NextGen Series in a 4-1 win over Barcelona's under-19 side.

His display in the win at Bloomfield Road was an illustration of what he was capable of, against a side, who admittedly are likely to be strugglers in the division.

Pritchard needs to use this as a real confidence booster and produce similarly top quality displays over the course of the season, to convince Mauricio Pochettino he will be ready next year.

Are you still confident Pritchard can make it at Spurs?
