Chelsea are hotly tipped to win the Premier League title, and Cascarino believes they can go far into the Champions League.

Former Chelsea forward Tony Cascarino has said that winning both the Premier League title and the Champions League is a massive ask for the club - but has said he expects them to reach the semi-finals in Europe.

Cascarino was talking to Sky Sports Morning View programme where the credentials of the Blues this season were discussed.

Chelsea impressed during their opening game of the season against Burnley after recovering from falling behind early on in the game to record a 3-1 victory at Turf Moor.

Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas both impressed on their debuts, with the former getting his first competitive goal for the club, whilst Fabregas was central to the Blues' attacking play - and their performance has done nothing to dampen expectations, with the club viewed as favourites for the Premier League title.

"I think that's a massive ask. I think everything's got to go for you, you've got to avoid injuries. You've got two players for every position, they've got a huge bench. I see them going very deep in the competition. I'd be amazed if Chelsea didn't get to the semi-finals of the Champions League. I think that's well within their comfort zone."

Manager Jose Mourinho believes he has a side capable of winning the league title last season, compared to the last campaign when he alluded to his side being a 'little horse' and repeatedly talked about the evolution of the team.

Though they didn't win any silverware last season, they had a strong showing in the league finishing just four points behind champions Manchester City, and reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Given that they have strengthened well this summer with a couple of high profile names, a lot of people would say it's within reach for them to win both prizes.

However, the title race promises to be competitive, whilst there is going to be a stiff challenge from those on the continent for Europe's big prize with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich likely to be amongst the favourites to be crowned Champions of Europe again.
