'It's not too late to sell Vidal' - Juventus advised on Manchester United target by former star

Juventus 2

Manchester United target should be sold argues former Juventus star.

Former Juventus midfielder Massimo Mauro has weighed in on the Arturo Vidal situation, and believes the club should cash in.

Mauro played more than 100 matches for the Old Lady between 1985 and 1989, and has told the club it is not too late to do business.

Juventus had been credited by the Italian media as setting a August 15 deadline for the deal which United did not meet, but the Red Devils chances are only truly over when the transfer window closes on September 1.

He told Tuttosport: "I would try to sell him and invest the proceeds. With the right offer, even in the last days of the market you can move the pieces well."

Juventus have been linked with a spectacular move for Radamel Falcao on loan in recent days, with his substantial salary still needed to be paid, while they have a number of alternative targets.

Defenders Luisao and Matija Nastasic have been linked, while Ezequiel Lavezzi, and Stevan Jovetic are also said to be on their agenda. These deals are largely dependent on proceeds from player sales.

Mauro went onto discuss how Juventus' real big regret this summer should be missing out on Robert Lewandowski, a top class centre-forward available on the market for free - but in reality it always seemed as though he was bound for Bayern Munich.

United have been touted as considering switching their interest in Vidal to Roma's Kevin Strootman, but the Giallorossi are far less willing to sell the Dutchman than the talk surrounding Juventus.

It may well be their earlier 'deadline' was just posturing, and United still have a chance to do a deal for the Chilean, but each day they leave it, the chances grow slimmer.

Is it too late for Vidal to move to United?
