Rojo's colleague jumps gun, congratulates star on potential Manchester United switch

Marcos Rojo - Portugal Vs Argentina, 9th February 2011

Marcos Rojo has been congratulated by Sporting teammate Valentin Viola on a potential move to Manchester United.

Marcos Rojo’s Sporting Lisbon teammate Valentin Viola appears to have jumped the gun and already congratulated his friend on a move to Manchester United.

Rojo is expected to be announced as United’s latest signing in the next few days, but the deal has not been confirmed yet.

However, that hasn’t stopped Viola posting his best wishes to the Argentine defender on his move, as he took to Instagram to post a picture of himself with Rojo with the caption: “Congratulations friend for your move, you deserve it.”

It is yet another indication that Rojo will become the latest recruit at Old Trafford as Louis van Gaal looks to strengthen his United team for the upcoming season.

The 24-year-old spoke on Argentine radio last night about how a move to United has always been his dream and it looks to be one which has come true, with the Argentina set to complete a €20 million switch in the coming days.

He was however on Tuesday, still training with the Sporting Lisbon first team. His teammate Viola is currently out on loan from Sporting at Argentine side Racing Club.

If the move is completed a Red Devils side in desperate need of additions and is likely to come straight into the first-team at Old Trafford.

Rojo has been identified as a target by Van Gaal as he has played in the 3-4-1-2 formation that he is choosing to utilise at United and can fill the gap that they have in their current squad at right-wing-back.

The robust defender is renowned as an energetic player, but before the World Cup there were fears over his abilities.

Many observers had considered him one of Argentina’s weaklinks, but he ended up being one of his nation’s top performers at the international tournament, as they reached the final before losing to Germany.

Rojo will now be hoping that he can bring that form to Old Trafford and it looks all but certain that he will be unveiled in the future now that his current teammates have seemingly been informed of his departure.

Will Rojo be a good addition at Old Trafford?
