Leeds United supporters have been left frustrated after the side lost to Brighton and Hove Albion last night.
There is an old adage that it is the hope that kills you and Leeds United fans know the meaning of the words more than anyone else.
Optimism around Elland Road has been scarcely thin in recent times, but every time positivity has been felt it has been relatively short-lived.
And, once again, it was a similar story for the Whites as the buzz around the club after a series of signings and back-to-back wins, evaporated after a 2-0 defeat to Brighton last night.
The Yorkshire side had beaten Accrington Stanley and Middlesbrough in their last two fixtures, but came up well short against Brighton last night.
From the opening of the match they were off the pace and goals from Joao Teixeira and Kazenga LuaLua provided Sami Hyypia with his first league win since taking charge of the Seagulls over the summer.
It a result which has frustrated Leeds fans who felt that they were starting to build some momentum.
The club had brought in a host of singings after an opening day defeat to Millwall – with Billy Sharp being the most eye-catching – but they appear back at square one now.
And the reaction from Whites supporters on Twitter was understandably angry.
Although this season is just starting, and more additions are expected to arrive before the end of the window, there are concerns about which direction it is heading under the stewardship of David Hockaday.
The head-coach has no experience of managing in the Football League and is inheriting a tough job at one of English football's biggest and most demanding clubs, who are desperate for success.
The pressure is already building on the controversial boss and here are some of the best tweets in reaction to the side’s defeat last night.
Still can't get over how bad that performance was last night. Hand it to Brighton, they were good but we were terrible! Changes needed #lufc— Carl Weston (@Carl_LUFC) August 20, 2014
#lufc We have to expect poor performances with essentially the same midfield as last season. Will stay the same with Austin Murphy + Tonge— jason waller (@j45onwaller) August 20, 2014
Unbelievable how some people can swing from one end of the optimism scale to the other after one result. #LUFC— Andy Christian (@scud68) August 20, 2014
Some siginings look good but we need a better coach for them to work. Hock is like cheap toilet roll, false economy #LUFC— Joe LUFC (@LUFC_LUFC) August 20, 2014
Last night was dire, real step backwards! Diamond doesn't work for us at all. I think we need a better coach/tactician. Sorry Hock #LUFC— Joe LUFC (@LUFC_LUFC) August 20, 2014
Last night ranks in my top 5 worst performances ive personally seen (yes ive been Barnsley away!) #LUFC— Peter Powell (@PPLUFC) August 20, 2014
The job was too big for a man who had managed in prem, promotions galore and lots of experience, what hope is there for Hockaday #LUFC— Peter Powell (@PPLUFC) August 20, 2014
Teams dominating possession against #lufc is down to midfield, end of story. Might as well give others a chance. Keep Bianchi in though.— Gary Wright (@wrightg02) August 20, 2014
We need to totally rebuild our midfield if we want to pick up points this season. Absolutely no creativity. #lufc— We Are Leeds (@WeAreLeeds1919) August 20, 2014
Still shocked about last night can't see how management don't see the problem maybe the new players aren't good enough either !!!! #lufc— Mike Paton (@Jobsnorthuk) August 20, 2014
Are Leeds in danger of going down this season?
