Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo has taken a dig at new Chelsea signing Cesc Fabregas on Twitter after re-tweeting an old message from the Spaniard on the social media site saying: “Once a Gooner, always a Gooner.”
Fabregas moved to Chelsea this summer in a switch that aggravated Arsenal fans and it appears that Sanogo has also not forgotten what the midfielder said about his loyalty to the club during his time there.
The French striker has since deleted the tweet, but plenty of eagle-eyed supporters have managed to post screen-grabs of his timeline.
Fabregas departed Arsenal for Barcelona in 2011 and was widely expected to stay for a considerable amount of time at the Nou Camp, as a supporter of the Catalan giants.
However, the transfer never really worked out – and the 27-year-old struggled to make an impact at his boyhood club.
As a result he was put up for transfer this summer and Chelsea acted quickly to snap him up when they found out about his availability.
He has wasted no time making an impression back in England, either, with his debut display for the Blues being particularly eye-catching.
And it seems it was enough to attract the attention of Sanogo, who brought back up the past which will do little to make Gunners fans forget about Fabregas’s seemingly misplaced words.
Should Arsenal have tried to sign Fabregas this summer?
