Marcos Rojo - Portugal Vs Argentina, 9th February 2011

News, views and rumours relating to Manchester United in the past 24 hours.

Manchester United owners the Glazer family have ruled out selling the club for at least five years.

The Guardian reports that the club’s fans are ‘angered’ and that tensions flared up on social media as a result of the owners’ reluctance to sell.

In team news, midfielder Marouane Fellaini is injured. The Belgian could be out ‘for some time’ after suffering a foot injury picked up in training.

In transfer news, The Guardian reports that Bayern Munich and Germany attacker Thomas Muller turned down an ‘astronomical’ offer to move to United. The World Cup winner told Bild when quizzed over whether United had tried to sign him:

“Of course. I was aware that I could earn more by making that transfer. The amount that foreign clubs were offering me was astronomical. But Bayern are my club, a change was not an issue for me.”

However United have denied these claims along with those suggesting much the same of Borussia Dortmund winger Marco Reus.

“It is not true that we made offers for either Muller or Reus at any stage,” stated a club spokesperson.

Meanwhile, Argentine defender Marcos Rojo has completed his transfer to Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old Sporting Lisbon centre-back will wear the number five shirt this season.

Nani has joined Sporting Lisbon on loan for the season after ‘failing to make his mark’ at Old Trafford, as reported by the Daily Mail.

The Metro claims United are ‘pushing’ to complete a £32 million deal for Juan Cuadrado despite reports on Tuesday that the Columbian winger is expected to remain at Fiorentina.

United youngster Wilfried Zaha is rumoured to be preparing for the exit doors at Old Trafford, possibly on his way back to Crystal Palace from whom he was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson in January 2013.
