The Ice Bucket Challenge has taken over the internet this week, with many worldwide stars in music, sport and showbiz taking part to raise awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease). The concept features people tipping a bucket of ice water over themselves and donating money to the ALS Association.
Footballers such as Emmanuel Adebayor, Gerard Pique and John Terry have all taken part this week, with an added feature being that every time a person completes the challenge, they must nominate three people to do the same challenge - and much was made of Terry's nomination of former Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez.
Today, it was Alex Song's turn having been nominated by West Brom midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu. The Barcelona midfielder is the subject of much transfer speculation at the moment with the Catalan giants desperate to sell the Cameroonian international, but has inadvertently prompted rumours of a move back to Arsenal with his nominations for the ice bucket challenge.
Some Arsenal fans believe that his decision to nominate two current Arsenal stars - Lukas Podolski and Tomas Rosicky - as well as ex-Gunners defender Johan Djourou means he's angling for a move back to the Emirates Stadium.
Conspiracy theories aside, Song did a great thing today by taking part in the challenge. The phenomenon continues to raise awareness for ALS, and speculation over Song's pales into insignificance compared to the challenges that face ALS sufferers.
