Another Liverpool Champions League winner joins Luis Garcia at Indian outfit

Luis Garcia

Josemi has joined his former Liverpool team-mate in the Indian Super League.

The Indian Super League had its final draft today as the eight teams in the competition finalised the majority of their squads for the upcoming inaugural season. The mini-tournament, based on the cricket model in the country, has already seen top players such as David Trezeguet, Robert Pires and Freddie Ljungberg sign up - as well as Liverpool cult hero Luis Garcia.

Garcia was at Liverpool for three seasons between 2004 and 2007 - winning the FA Cup and the Champions League during his time at the club.

He will now be the marquee player for Atletico Kolkata, a team partly owned by the likes of Indian cricket star Sourav Ganguly and Atletico Madrid.

And he is set to be joined by another of the players who won a Champions League medal that night in Istanbul.

It was announced today that Josemi, who sat on the bench for the victory against AC Milan, will also be joining Kolkata for the competition.

The pair make up a group of five Spaniards - the others being former Barcelona youngster Jofre, greek domestic star Arnal Libert and former Real Madrid man and Spanish under-21 international Borja Fernandez.

Josemi is not as fondly remembered as Garcia might be at Liverpool - but anyone who played a part in that memorable season will always be in Liverpool folklore.

And when the Indian Super League starts, it will not be rocket science to figure out who Liverpool fans will be backing.
