With excitement building over the latest instalment of EA SPORTS' FIFA series, more and more content is being released. Just two weeks ago we were shown that every single Premier League stadium will be in the game, and last week a whole new rework of goalkeeping animations was announced too.
Today, EA built up the suspense surrounding the identity of the new cover star of the UK addition, before eventually announcing that Chelsea star Eden Hazard would feature on the front of the game.
"Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard is our EA SPORTS FIFA 15 UK cover star! Hazard will feature on the FIFA 15 covers in UK, France, Belgium and Netherlands alongside our global pack talent Lionel Messi," read an EA statement. "An outstanding 2013/14 campaign for Chelsea saw Hazard bag 14 goals, 7 assists and 92 chances from his 35 appearances. Eden was voted the PFA Young Player of the Year and into the PFA Team of the Year."
"Hazard also had a great season in FIFA 14, with our fans scoring over 52M goals with the Belgium international across all game modes. His value is reflected in FIFA Ultimate Team where Hazard has been traded over 780,000 times and hit a top price of 2.5M coins in our transfer market."
Hazard joins a long list of current Premier League stars in being on the cover of FIFA. FIFA 10 featured Arsenal's Theo Walcott, Manchester United's Wayne Rooney and then-Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard, whilst FIFA 12 and 13 featured Arsenal stars Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain respectively.
The most recent controversy surrounding the cover of the game came a year ago, as Gareth Bale was shown in his Tottenham kit alongside Messi. This build up hope for Spurs fans that the Welshman would stay at White Hart Lane, only to see him sign for Real Madrid - resulting in the need for a brand new cover to be produced to show Bale in his new strip.
Is Hazard worthy of the FIFA 15 cover?
