Everton's next two fixtures are against Arsenal and Chelsea - two games which will provide a huge test for the Toffees in their quest to break into the top four. Manager Roberto Martinez says that the matches will prove to him which players are ready to take the club forward, and will shape his transfer activity with just 11 days until the transfer deadline.

"I am pleased we are playing two of the best teams in the league now in Arsenal and Chelsea before the window closes," said Martinez. "That is going to give us a real opportunity to see if we have to do anything or help the players we have at the club. But at the moment I am very pleased with the players we have and the squad we have. Now it is just a matter of pushing it and trying to get the best out of what we have got."

Transfer activity will still be at the forefront of Martinez's mind regardless of the results, and a move for young Anderlecht striker David Henen continues to dominate speculation. The 18-year-old has been a long-term target for Everton, and Martinez has admitted that there is a hold up in the deal, but they may revisit the possibility in the coming weeks.

"With David, it's a different situation," said Martinez. "He's a young man who we feel has really good potential and who could fit really well in our structure. At the moment there's nothing done but it's something we may consider over the next two to three weeks. He's someone whose potential we recognise but he wouldn't be a player going into the first-team. He would go into the development squad to make sure he had a real future with the Club."

Meanwhile, Everton's commitment to youth and development had seen them register an interest in reported Arsenal target Brian Lenihan. The 20-year-old Cork City right back, who has been tipped to be the next Seamus Coleman by some, looks set to snub Premier League interest for a shot at first-team football with Brighton and Hove Albion.
