Mirco Antenucci took to Twitter to introduce himself to Leeds United fans.

Leeds suffered a second defeat in their first three league games in falling to Brighton on Tuesday, but have continued strengthening the squad with the transfer window still open.

After securing the services of Billy Sharp last week, Massimo Cellino has once again bolstered the Whites’ attack with the capture of veteran hit man Mirco Antenucci from Ternana.

The Italian patron had been in hot pursuit of his countryman for the better part of the summer and on Wednesday Antunecci’s signing was officially confirmed.

A relatively unknown quantity in England, the 30-year-old hit 19 goals for Ternana in Serie B last term and boasts 66 career strikes in Italy’s second division.

Antenucci immediately got acquainted with his new fans at Leeds by posting a picture of himself posing at Elland Road on Twitter after putting pen to paper on a two-year contract.

An accompanying message read: “Proud to be a part of this club. I hope to give you a lot of satisfaction.”

Whites supporters will be hoping Antenucci will be able to start supplying satisfaction immediately, with Leeds scoring just once through their first three Championship outings.

Next up for Dave Hockaday’s men is a trip to face Watford on Saturday - whilst it remains to be seen if the boss will deem his newest addition ready for action in such a short time span.

Can Antenucci thrive at Leeds?
