Carlos Sanchez has been pictured in Aston Villa training for the first time today after completing a £4.7 million transfer from Elche last week.
The defensive midfielder, nicknamed ‘The Rock because of his intimidating strength, was in the middle of a keep-ball session trying to win possession off his new teammates.
They would have been hoping that he wouldn’t have been going full-force in training and using the robust style of tackling that he has forged a reputation on.
Many South Americans come to England and struggle with the physicality, but Sanchez should have no such problems.
He was part of Colombia’s World Cup squad and his arrival has got Villa supporters excited about seeing him in action.
He joins the side when they are full of confidence. Paul Lambert’s side won against Stoke City in their opening Premier League fixture of the season and will now be looking to use that as a platform to build upon.
Sanchez was unveiled in time for that match, but didn’t play a part, meaning his first appearance in a Villa shirt could come in the side’s weekend fixture against Newcastle United.
The Villians kick-off this weekend’s Premier League action and they will be looking to continue their momentum against a Newcastle side who were beaten by Manchester City last Sunday in-front of an expectant home crowd.
Will Sanchez be a good addition for Villa?
