Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on doing a deal for French striker Loic Remy from QPR.
In fact they appear so keen, the Daily Star has suggested they’re open to a variety of deals which will allow them to secure the forward who nearly joined Liverpool earlier this summer.
The national paper suggests that Spurs are open to doing a straight up cash deal or a deal, which would see players heading in the other direction as Mauricio Pochettino looks to bolster the attack of his team.
“They are ready to offer either a straight cash deal or players plus money. Michael Dawson, Andros Townsend or Tom Carroll could be offered as makeweights,” reports the Star.
Two of those names could realistically be included in the deal but it’s likely that Pochettino would prefer a straight cash deal first before including players.
This season is going to be a very long and drawn out campaign for the club as they battle domestically and in the Europa League, which represents a way into the Champions League without having to finish in the top four.
Of the three names mentioned, Andros Townsend has to be the least likely to leave in any deal.
The Spurs winger is one of the most promising players that Pochettino has available and the rejection of an offer from Southampton shows how much the club want to hang onto the England international.
Dawson could realistically leave, as he’s a favourite of QPR boss Harry Redknapp and someone who may struggle to get game time should Pochettino make further defensive signings in the transfer market.
Tom Carroll has bags of potential but has never really had the chance to break into the Tottenham first team. Those chances don’t look set to improve considering the abundance of quality Spurs have in the middle of their team.
Remy would be a great capture alongside the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado and he’d offer the Spurs attack something different. However, it’s unclear at the moment what sort of deal Spurs will push to QPR to make it happen.
Who would you let leave out of Townsend, Dawson and Carroll?
