Toni Kroos says that Arsenal and Chelsea target Sami Khedira helps him with communication at Real Madrid.

Sami Khedira may be leaving Real Madrid this summer, but the Arsenal and Chelsea target is helping out his compatriot and fellow midfielder Toni Kroos settle at the club.

Germany international and 2014 World Cup winner Khedira has been linked with an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu all summer, with both the Gunners and the Blues reported to be keen on his services.

Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti himself has hinted that the 27-year-old midfielder could be sold as he has rejected an extension to his contract that runs out next summer.

However, Khedira, who joined the 10-time European champions from Stuttgart in the summer of 2010, has been helping his international teammate Kroos in his first days at the club.

Kroos moved to Madrid from German champions Bayern Munich for a reported transfer fee of €25 million last month after playing a key role in his country’s World Cup triumph in Brazil.

‘I briefly considered using a translator at Madrid, but I didn't like the idea of having someone around me all the time’, Goal.com quotes the 24-year-old as telling Bild.

‘I can get by using English. And Sami Khedira helped me out with some minor things in the beginning. He was really helpful for me’.

Khedira was an important part of the Madrid team for the first three years under then-manager Jose Mourinho, but his significance dwindled under Carlo Ancelotti last season.

That’s mainly because of the long-term injury he suffered, and now even as a World Cup winner, Khedira is struggling to convince the club to keep him.

Khedira may be a superb player – even a world-class one – but the former Stuttgart star will likely be part of a strong substitutes’ bench if he remains at the Bernabeu this season.

With Luka Modric and Xabi Alonso going strong and Kroos’s arrival this summer, the German has lost his place in the starting line-up.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea are believed to be keen on signing the defensive midfielder, while in recent days Bayern have also shown interest.

What the future holds for Khedira will be known by the end of the summer transfer window.
