Gary Lineker reacts to Gary Neville’s Louis van Gaal interview

Louis van Gaal

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City striker Gary Lineker is awed by the personality of Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.

Manchester United have signed three players so far this summer for the 2014-15 season and could sign more. And if they do, then it will be manager Louis van Gaal who will be calling the shots.

That’s the opinion of former Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona striker Gary Lineker, who made his opinion known on social networking site Twitter.

Lineker was (probably) reacting to a Van Gaal interview he had read on Saturday morning. It was taken by none other than United legend Gary Neville.

Van Gaal is indeed a big personality and will leave a lasting impression on the Red Devils. The Dutchman’s new tactical system has already made heads turn in the Premier League and his training methods have also gone down well with the players.

Whether or not the former Netherlands international coach had a big say on the signings of midfielder Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao and defender Luke Shaw from Southampton is not very clear, but there is no doubt that Van Gaal was the one who brought Marcos Rojo from Sporting Lisbon.

‘You have to buy what can improve your team’, he said. ‘That’s why I bought [Marcos] Rojo, because he can play here and here [in two positions]. So for us he is very good. No, no, we shall buy maybe more players. You never know’.

Van Gaal is likely to make more signings between now and the end of the summer transfer window, and all of them will be his signings. How the new players perform at United, only time will tell.

How many more players does Louis van Gaal need?
