Leprechaun: Origins director named to helm Dead Rising movie

Zach Lipovsky reported to be leading the film adaptation of Capcom’s zombie survival horror.

Hollywood blog, The Wrap reports Zach Lipovsky has been enlisted to direct a new 90 minute digital feature film based on Dead Rising. The title is to be the first production to come out of Legendary Picture’s, Legendary Digital Media department.

Lipovsky, who previously directed the recently released Leprechaun: Origins, joins Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura on the project with writing honours to be undertaken by Tim Carter, producer of the web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy.

Dead Rising will launch first on Sony’s Crackle, a free ad-supported service in the US (the UK Crackle closed down earlier this year)

Halo: Forward Until Dawn distributors. Content Media will handle worldwide distrubution with the Dead Rising movie to be released on Video On Demand, TV and DVD.

Lipovsky got his Hollywood break after appearing on Steven Spielberg’s film-making reality competition show ‘On the Lot’ in 2007.
