Everton Goodison 2

Arsenal performed a miraculous recovery to come from 2-0 down to rescue a 2-2 draw against Everton at Goodison Park.

Arsene Wenger's side performed another late act this evening, just a week after Aaron Ramsey's injury time winner against Crystal Palace.

The Gunners were thoroughly outclassed by Everton for around an hour of the game, but an incredible revival saw them rescue a point against Roberto Martinez's Toffees.

An entertaining first half saw Everton dominate, and a poor defensive mistake from Mesut Ozil allowed Seamus Coleman to sneak in at the back post and head the ball past the despairing dive of goalkeeper Wojcich Szczesny from Gareth Barry's deep cross.

One became two when Arsenal were caught on the break with Per Mertesacker unable to shield the ball away from Romelu Lukaku, and the Belgian kept on going against a stretched Arsenal backline before threading a through ball into the path of Scottish international Steven Naismith, who slipped the ball through Szczesny's legs to give Everton a 2-0 lead.

Arsenal came out in mostly the same vein, but the introduction of Santi Cazorla sparked a recovery from Arsenal. The Spaniard's ball into the six yard box gave Aaron Ramsey the chance to bring Arsenal back into the game with just seven minutes left, and then another Spaniard crossed from the left in Nacho Monreal, with his ball into the box finding Olivier Giroud, who thumped his header past Tim Howard in the 90th minute.

Arsenal's comeback was commendable, but it changes little from their performance - they were second best for most of the game, and Arsene Wenger must once again ask questions of how his side perform in the big games.
