Report: Arsenal star will not play against Everton as move gets closer

Lukas Podolski Pre FA Cup Press Conference

Lukas Podolski is being tipped to leave Arsenal sooner rather than later.

Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski will reportedly not be involved in Arsenal’s game against Everton on Saturday evening, with speculation continuing that he will leave the club this summer.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims the German international will play no part in the game against the Toffees as he “gets closer to saying goodbye” to the Gunners.

Rumours have been rife all summer that the former Cologne player could be heading out of the Emirates Stadium following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez and the return of Joel Campbell from his loan spell.

And now di Marzio claims Juventus are awaiting developments after looking into the possibility of signing the player.

Podolski – along with his German teammates Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil – has enjoyed a prolonged summer break following his World Cup exploits this summer.

But while the latter two are being tipped to return to first-team action in today’s late kick-off, Podolski’s future is said to be less clear.

Are the latest rumours true? Arsenal fans need only wait until around 4:30 today to know just how many of their German contingent will feature against Roberto Martinez’s men.

What do you think the future holds for Lukas Podolski?
