Renowned presenter tweets about Pompey - Praises 'wonderful' fans

Portsmouth have had a fantastic start to the new League Two season and Richard Keys has had his say on the club.

The talkSPORT presenter tweeted early this morning that he was delighted to see the south coast side doing so well in the league this season, and added that he was pleased for the fans as they 'deserve something to shout about'.

Keys tweeted: "Great to see Pompey in the promotion places. Early days but those wonderful fans deserve something to shout about. Where's the £60m?"

After four games in the fourth tier of English football Andy Awford's side currently sit in second place with 10 points.

Pompey are favourites to go up again this season and considering the way they have started this campaign, promotion into League One might actually be a realistic target for the club.

The club drew their first game of the season at Exeter, but have since seen off the challenge of Peterborough in the League Cup and Northampton, Cambridge and Oxford in the league.

Portsmouth were expected to jump straight back up to League One last season, however the favourites tag did them little favours as the campaign played out a lot different to the way many had predicted.

The squad was rebuilt for last season, and it is safe to say many of the new faces just weren't up to the challenge at Portsmouth. Guy Whitttingham was replaced by Ritchie Barker, and then when it didn't work out with him the owners, the Pompey Supporters Trust, looked to academy coach Andy Awford.

Since Awford was appointed Barker's successor in late March, Pompey haven't lost a competitive match. The 42-year-old, who played for Pompey for 11-years between 1989-2000, has completely reversed the club's fortunes and in the 12 matches he has been in charge the team have won nine and drawn three.

The club's supporters are known as being among the the most devoted in the country, and with 16,000-strong crowds still turning out at Fratton Park each game, surely it is only a matter of time before the club is back where it belongs.

Can Pompey achieve promotion this season?
