CONFIRMED: Manchester United line-up against Sunderland – Van Persie and Blackett start, Hernandez on bench!

Louis van Gaal

Here is how Manchester United will line up against Sunderland, featuring Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Tyler Blackett, while Javier Hernandez is on the bench.

Manchester United will be looking to bounce back from their opening-day defeat to Swansea City with victory over Sunderland away from home in the Premier League today.

The Red Devils slumped to a 2-1 loss to the Swans at Old Trafford last weekend, thanks to goals from Ki Sung-yueng and Gylfi Sigurdsson.

It was a shock introduction to top-flight English football for new Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal, who will be determined to get the better of Sunderland at the Stadium of Light this afternoon.

United’s main objective this season is to return to the top four of the Premier League, and dropping points today will harm their chances of doing that.

However, the 20-time English champions will be confident of picking up a win today as they are unbeaten in 12 league games at Sunderland.

Gus Poyet’s team, though, will not be easy pushovers and will be keen on giving fans more reasons to be optimistic for the new season.

Sunderland kicked off their 2014-15 campaign with a 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion away from home last weekend.
