The Chile international midfielder has been struggling with a knee injury since the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Vidal, who has been strongly linked with a move to United this summer, travelled with the Juve squad for their pre-season tour of Asia and Australia, but did not play a single minute.

However, the former Bayer Leverkusen star started the Bianconeri’s first Tim Trophy match against AC Milan on Saturday, which the Italian champions lost 1-0.

Although Vidal was left out of Juventus’s starting line-up against Sassuolo in their second 45-minute match, coach Massimiliano Allegri was pleased with his return to action.

‘The important thing is that Vidal is fit and it’s the first 45 minutes he has played this season’, Football Italia quotes the Italian tactician as saying.

‘I am fully in sync with the club and have blind faith in them’, Allegri said when asked about Juve’s transfer policies, adding more strength to the idea that Vidal will not be sold. ‘I know if there’s an opportunity to improve this squad, they will’.

Juventus have insisted time and time again that Vidal is not for sale and the player himself has not tried to a force through a move, but the United links still remain.

With United manager Louis van Gaal claiming that he will sign more players before the end of the summer transfer window, speculation persists that the Red Devils will make a move for Vidal.

Vidal will cost United in the region of €50 million (£40m) and although the Manchester outfit have the funds, perhaps they could just fail to convince Juventus to sell the star midfielder.
