Tottenham hero Glenn Hoddle feels Calum Chambers is a player Arsenal should not place too much faith in just yet.
Calum Chambers featured again for Arsenal as they secured a late comeback draw against Everton.
Against the Toffees he made 10 successful clearances - more than any other Arsenal defender, and completed 96 per cent of his passes.
Chambers did however pick up a booking for a foul on Steven Naismith and could have done better for Everton's second goal, going to ground too early to fruitlessly challenge Romelu Lukaku in the build-up.
SkySports pundit Glenn Hoddle feels that Arsene Wenger should make alternative plans, rather than rely on him to back up Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker all season.
The Tottenham legend and current QPR coach said after the draw at Goodison: "Chambers is a good prospect, but it’s still a risk.
"He’s got a lot to learn, as he proved today. Can you put your hat on him for the whole season? I’m not so sure."
It should not be forgotten that amid all the praise, Chambers is only 19 and has played more frequently at right-back than centre-back in the Premier League.
Hoddle is not the first to suggest Arsenal sign another centre-back, and the Gunners have been linked with doing so - with Kostas Manolas heavily linked.
Chambers' early adaptation at Arsenal has been a bonus, but the assumption was that with the Gunners selling Thomas Vermaelen there would be another more experienced centre-back coming in.
Arsene Wenger is running out of time to provide his side with the back up they need.
