Mario Balotelli says that he wants to guide Liverpool to the Champions League title.

The Italian striker completed a £16 million move from AC Milan and has already set his sights high for what he wants to achieve at his new club.

The Reds reclaimed their status in Europe’s elite competition last season and will now be hoping that they can add to their five European triumphs.

And Balotelli wants to be right at the heart of that – revealing that it was his biggest aim upon signing for the club.

“I want to win another Champions League for sure, because the Champions League wasn't all mine, I was in a team,” he said to the club's official site. “I want to take this team to the Champions League.”

Balotelli last won the Champions League title in 2010 with Inter Milan, but he only scored once during the Italian side’s victorious campaign.

If he is to repeat that feat at Anfield, he will likely be required hit the back of the net considerably more often than that.

Balotelli has been signed as the club look to regain some of the attacking threat that they had when Luis Suarez was at the club.

The 24-year-old is considered one of the finest talents in world football, but there is a rawness to his play that will need to be refined by Brendan Rodgers.

His temperament has also come into question at previous sides, and his new manager will be keen to ensure that he makes his headlines on the pitch – rather than off it.

If he does then there can be no question that Liverpool have pulled off one of the best signings of the summer and, with the added depth to their squad, the Champions League may not be too unrealistic a target.

How will Balotelli do at Liverpool?
