Chelsea's £75 million trio were all underpriced, says Owen

Diego Costa

The BT Sports pundit and former England striker has praised Chelsea's summer signings on Twitter.

Michael Owen believes that all three of Chelsea’s high profile additions were underpriced this summer.

Chelsea brought in Diego Costa (£32 million), Cesc Fabregas (£27 million) and Filipe Luis (£16 million) for a combined fee of around £75 million, but Owen still believes that they can be considered bargains.

The former Liverpool and Manchester United striker took to Twitter today to say that the three world class players that Chelsea had brought to Stamford Bridge were amongst the best bits of business over the summer.

They have already had an impact, too, with the Blues looking the most impressive out of all the Premier League sides so far this campaign.

Jose Mourinho’s side have dismantled Burnley and Leicester City in their opening two games this season, with Costa and Fabregas playing starring roles.

Costa has scored in both games in a Chelsea shirt so far, and already looks like a contender for the golden boot at the end of the season, whilst Fabregas has simply picked up from where he left off in English football.

Before departing for Barcelona, from Arsenal, three years ago he was considered one of the finest players in the Premier League and he has quickly reminded supporters of just how good he is.

The Spaniard has dictated the tempo of the games which he played in so far and although there will be tougher opposition to play against in the remainder of the season he already looks set to become a fans’ favourite at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Luis is still waiting to make his first competitive appearance in a Chelsea shirt, after being kept on the substitutes’ bench for both games so far this season.

He should have a part to play soon, though, and his form at Ateltico Madrid suggests he will be fine when called upon.

The Blues take on Everton next Saturday, where they will be hoping to continue their impressive start to the season by picking up a victory.
