Arsenal stars Mathieu Debuchy and Olivier Giroud watched AS Monaco’s 1-0 win against Nantes in Ligue 1 on Sunday.

AS Monaco picked up their first points of the 2014-15 Ligue 1 campaign with victory over Nantes on Sunday, with two Arsenal players watching the match.

France internationals Mathieu Debuchy and Olivier Giroud both watched the game in which Radamel Falcao scored on the stroke of half time to lead Monaco to a 1-0 win at Stade de la Beaujoire.

It was last season’s Ligue 1 runners-up’s first win in the league in three matches and Nantes’s first defeat of the campaign.

It should not come as a surprise that Arsenal duo Debuchy and Giroud were watching a French league match. After all, both are French and played in Ligue 1.

Right-back Debuchy featured for Lille and was part of the team that won the championship in 2011. He moved to Newcastle United in January 2013 and last month joined Arsenal for a reported transfer fee of £12 million.

Meanwhile, Giroud was on the books of Montpellier between 2010 and 2012, and joined Arsenal for a reported £12m just weeks after winning the title.

Although in the past two seasons the 27-year-old striker has not convinced everyone, he remains a trusted player of Gunners manager Arsene Wenger.

In fact, it was Giroud who salvaged a point for Arsenal against Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Saturday, scoring an injury-time goal for a 2-2 draw.

Who will have a better Champions League campaign: Arsenal or AS Monaco?
