Manchester United are closing on a deal to sign Angel di Maria, the player who was crucial in Real Madrid's Champions League success.
The Argentine was key in the 4-1 extra-time final victory over Atletico, providing the game-turning assist for Gareth Bale's goal which gave Real the lead.
United are poised to clinch the winger's signature for a club record fee, as they aim to simply qualify for next season's Champions League competition.
With 17 assists provided in La Liga alone last season, Real will have to find a way to replicate that sort of contribution - and Colombian attack James Rodriguez certainly helps.
We took a look at club forum RealMadristas.net to see how fans were reacting to Di Maria's impending sale:
"Incredible piece of business by Flo here. Love Di Maria... but there is no way he's worth 75 mil + bonuses in any known universe to man We got Kroos for 36 and Pogba would likely cost 50+ mil euros. If we get Pogba... Kroos + Pogba > Di Maria every day of the week."
"I truly believe that Di Maria can easily shine at United. He'll effortlessly walk into the starting XI. It doesn't matter if he can't remain consistent. They're not Madrid. He'll keep his spot no matter what. He can become their alpha. They have like, one WC player. The rest are all garbage. So this could be his chance. No CL football. He won't have a busy schedule. He can outshine or at least repeat what Suarez did with Liverpool last year."
"80 millions for Di Maria is a good deal economically, terrible deal sporting wise. Anyway, we will all move on and see how it goes."
"Such a shame. Though I do understand madrid's position. Will legit hurt to see him go."
The comments largely underline what a valued player Di Maria is at the club, admired by all whatever the view of the price tag.
While Real fans are already clearly considering what they can do in terms of spending the cash, from a on-pitch perspective it is clear the Argentine was a key cog in a successful side.
Debate will continue on the winger's price tag, but United fans should be confident that over the course of the season and beyond, Di Maria has the talent and work rate to ensure the team is significantly improved.
Will Di Maria land up being as admired at Manchester United?
