All the latest summer transfer news from Serie A...

After seeing Mario Balotelli complete his move to Liverpool today, AC Milan have to begin looking for a new striker, and the likes of Jackson Martinez, Javier Hernandez, Alvaro Negredo and Roberto Soldado have all been linked with moves in recent days.

Whilst three of those are Premier League strikers, Milan are looking in the direction of another forward based in English football - Chelsea's Fernando Torres. The goalshy Spaniard now appears to be third choice at Stamford Bridge after the arrivals of Diego Costa and Didier Drogba, and with Jose Mourinho looking to snap up Roma's Mattia Destro, Torres is reportedly close to a loan move to the San Siro, according to speculation in Italy.

Roma's central defensive situation remains in a state of flux. Moroccan international Mehdi Benatia seems poised to leave the Italian capital with Bayern Munich and Manchester United believed to be interested, and a host of defenders have been linked as potential replacements - even after the signing of Cagliari's Davide Astori.

Confusion surrounds their pursuit of Lille's Marko Basa. Reports suggest that Roma have agreed a €6m deal for the Montenegrin, who played under manager Rudi Garcia at Lille, but the Ligue 1 side have confirmed that the 31-year-old is out for two-to-four weeks having sustained an injury this weekend - which may delay Benatia's exit and accelerate Roma's bid for Tottenham's Vlad Chiriches.

Another Tottenham player who could be on his way out is Sandro, with the Brazilian international midfielder attracting interest from Napoli - but their move for the 25-year-old depends entirely on them getting into the Champions League group stage, with their qualification tie against Athletic Bilbao finely poised at 1-1 ahead of Napoli's trip to Spain this week.

Napoli have also been linked with Sandro's North London neighbour Lukas Podolski, with Juventus also believed to be in the race to sign the German international. However, the agent of the Arsenal striker says that there has been no contact from either side.

"I read in the newspapers that Juventus and Napoli were interested in Lukas," Ali Pektas said. "But there has been no contact from either of those clubs. I don’t know if he will go to Italy in this window. I can’t say anything for sure. What I can say however, is that Lukas has a contract with Arsenal."
