The former Manchester United striker is praising the winger for switching clubs despite United's difficult spell.
United have had a difficult start to the season as they look to recover from their poor seventh-place finish last term where they finished 22 points behind eventual champions Manchester City, and without European football completely.
Louis van Gaal has been charged with leading the club back into Europe's elite, but at a time when the club isn't competing in the Champions League, Saha has praised the Argentine.
"Man United definitely needed a player to do extra things, unpredictable things that you need in certain moments.
"You have to give him credit for coming to Man United at this difficult time. I'm very excited by the move."
Some have said the lack of Champions League football will have deterred players of the highest quality from signing for Manchester United - but this transfer seems to prove that isn't necessarily the case, though the Di Maria has suggested it would be a dream for him to play for the club, which may have been a factor.
Transfer activity at Old Trafford has perhaps been a little slower than the fans would have liked. Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo have been the major signings to note so far. But the capture of Di Maria will represent the club are still in the market for players of the highest calibre, and that the name of Manchester United is still big enough to attract them.
What do you make of Saha's comments on Di Maria?
