The 13 matches Arsenal's Olivier Giroud is set to miss through injury

Olivier Giroud could be missing for quite some time for Arsenal following a foot injury.

Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud has reportedly been ruled out for up to 10 weeks with a broken bone in his foot.

The news will come as a bitter blow to Arsene Wenger as he looks to continue the club’s relatively good start to the new campaign.

Giroud turned the game against Everton on its head, scoring a late equaliser to ensure the Gunners maintained their unbeaten start to the season. But with the Frenchman set to miss up to 13 matches in the next two-and-a-half months, the onus will be on the players who can fill in – namely Yaya Sanogo, Joel Campbell and Lukas Podolski.

Giroud could miss as many as 13 matches, including nine Premier League games and four Champions League ties (if Arsenal qualify for the group stage).

Of the league games the French international looks set to miss, four are against teams he netted against last season, including Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur.

In total, Giroud scored three and set up two against the Black Cats last season, with one of each coming in the away fixture that he is now set to miss.  He also scored one in the home tie against Spurs in the previous campaign - a match that he is again set to be absent from.
