Who joins Fabregas and Lamela in the team of the week?

Cesc Fabregas Spain

Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Arsenal stars all feature.

There were plenty of exciting results in the latest round of Premier League action as Manchester United secured their first point and Liverpool slipped to their first defeat of the season.

Chelsea and Manchester City have started with a bang while Burnley are among the early sides to prop up the table in the bottom half.

We’ve assessed the latest games and produced our up to date team of the week.

GK – Thibaut Courtois (Chelsea)

The young Belgian was in fine form against Leicester City and produced a world class save from a one-on-one with David Nugent.

RB – Pablo Zabaleta (Manchester City)

The Argentine was superb at both ends of the pitch for City against Liverpool. He’ll be a key figure if they retain the title.

CB – Phil Jones (Manchester United)

This is the sort of performance Manchester United need to see on a consistent basis from Jones. He read the game well and did the basics effectively against Sunderland.

CB – Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur)

Dier looks to be a superb buy from Mauricio Pochettino. He was in great form against QPR, covered multiple positions and looked almost faultless.

LB – Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea)

He’s not a left-back but we had to fit him in somewhere. He played well against Leicester, was difficult to get the better of defensively and smart going forward.

RM – Erik Lamela (Tottenham Hotspur)

Lamela’s revitalised form continues under the guidance of Pochettino. He was superb from an attacking point of view against QPR.

CM – Mark Noble (West Ham United)

Noble is the sort of consistent and hard working midfielder that any side needs. Without him, the side would miss some punch and fight which he showed against Crystal Palace.

CM – Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea)

Arguably the best signing Chelsea have made this summer. His ability to control games and pull the creative strings is second to none at the Blues.

LM – David Silva (Manchester City)

Silva’s ability to control games from City’s left hand side is superb. He’s so difficult to get on top of because his movement and positional awareness is world class.

ST – Olivier Giroud (Arsenal)

Produced the goods when his side needed it most. He was clearly delighted with the equaliser at Everton and it’s a massive shame he’s now out for up to three months with injury.

ST – Stevan Jovetic (Manchester City)

Not the most impressive brace you’ll ever see but he was lethal against Liverpool. It’s good to see him putting Manuel Pellegrini under pressure.
