Five Chelsea youngsters and reported £15m Manchester United target called up for England’s under-19s

Chelsea players and a rumoured Manchester United target are among those to have been called up for England's under-19s.

The squad for England’s under-19 match against Germany next month has been named, with players from Chelsea, Charlton Athletic and Fulham all being promoted following a successful spell in the under-17 side.

Charlton’s Joe Gomez, Chelsea’s Izzy Brown and Fulham’s Patrick Roberts have all been included, after they helped the under-17s to European Championship glory earlier this year.

Roberts has reportedly had a £15million price-tag slapped on him following alleged interest from Manchester United, while Brown scored his first senior goals for Chelsea during their pre-season campaign.

Both players are expected to have huge futures in the game and this is another step in the right direction as they ultimately target a place in the Three Lions senior side.

Brown will almost certainly break into the Blues’ first-team in due course, while it will be interesting to see if United maintain an interest in Roberts following the arrival of Louis van Gaal and the considerable changes he is seemingly implementing in playing staff.

Other players included in England’s under-19 squad include Tottenham Hotspur player Harry Winks, Manchester City duo Angus Gunn and Ashley Smith-Brown and four more Chelsea players in the form of Josh Aina, Charlie Colkett, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Alex Kiwomya.

How good can Brown and Roberts ultimately become for Chelsea and Fulham respectively?
