Is this the man Arsenal want to solve their striking woes?

Loic Remy

Arsenal have been linked strongly to Loic Remy, but is he the man they need?

Remybtn2Arsenal's need for a striker has been emphasised by Olivier Giroud's injury, highlighting that the club were kidding themselves if they suspected they could mount a serious title challenge relying on him.

While others can fill in, he is the only established centre-forward, and the Gunners are being linked with a number of players from around Europe.

One option is a little closer to home, and that is Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy.

The 27-year-old is a French international like Giroud, and importantly knows the Premier League and will not have to uproot, already living in London.

So far this season he is yet to find the net in QPR's opening outings against Hull City or Tottenham Hotspur, but that is not for lack of trying.

He has attempted seven shots on goal, landing three on target. QPR as a team are yet to find the net this season, losing both of their opening games without scoring.

One part of his game which Remy has proven early on that is an asset is his work rate. In two matches he has won the ball back nine times for his side.

Is Remy a spectacular option for Arsenal? No, but at a reported £8.5 million he can be a threat and is not afraid to try to test the goalkeeper. 14 goals in the Premier League for Newcastle on loan shows that, and he will hope his luck changes this campaign whether at QPR or elsewhere.

With the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott supplying him, his pace could ensure the Gunners are even more of a threat to opposing defences than with Olivier Giroud up front.

Whether he has missed an opportunity to tempt the Gunners once and for all by failing to score over his opening two games remains to be seen.

Would you be happy with Remy at Arsenal? Or should they be targeting another player?
