Radamel Falcao is 'prepared' to join Arsenal - report

Radamel Falcao

According to a report in The Telegraph, AS Monaco hotshot is prepared to move in the latest Arsenal transfer news.

Arsene Wenger's fears may be allayed today as Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud awaits results from a specialist scan, yet the early indications are that the Frenchman will be absent from the first team on a long-term basis.

It has been suggested that, in a summer where Wenger has already signed four players in the transfer window, Arsenal could re-enter the market in order to acquire a replacement.

A report in The Telegraph implies that a temporary deal for AS Monaco superstar Radamel Falcao could be an option, as the Colombian "is available for a £20 million season-long loan."

The report notes that "sources in France claim that Falcao would be prepared to move to the Emirates Stadium until the end of the season."

Should Arsenal land the 28-year-old, it would no doubt buoy the club's fanbase who have a: been left unsatisfied with the dearth in elite-level quality of spear-heading strikers like Giroud, when compared to, say, Chelsea star Diego Costa and b: the subsequent potential three-month layoff of Giroud after suffering an ankle fracture, recently.

Falcao has been touted as just one option for Wenger, as Arsenal have also been linked with moves for Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy and Swansea City star Wilfried Bony.

Renowned BBC football expert David Ornstein, though, counters the claim Wenger will be active in the market when it comes to forward reinforcements.

He recently said on Twitter: "Arsenal unlikely to sign striker despite the injury to Giroud. Not definitive but current plan is existing options [Joel Campbell, Theo Walcott, Yaya Sanogo, Alexis Sanchez, Lukas Podolski] rather than buy/loan [Remy, Bony or Falcao]."
