Alessandro Del Piero's final challenge as a player looks likely to be in India with the Italian press almost certain he will sign for Delhi Dynamos.
The 39-year-old has been looking for a new club since leaving Sydney FC where he spent two years, scored a goal every other game and was regarded as a hero.
A number of stars have been signing up for the inaugural Indian Super League season, which will run from October to December and Del Piero's former Juventus teammate David Trezeguet will be representing FC Pune City.
It is suggested that because the championship ends in December, Del Piero may be able to sign for an MLS team in January.
Del Piero signed for Juventus from Padova in 1993 and stayed there until 2012, becoming a talisman with 513 appearances, 208 goals, eight Serie A titles and one Champions League triumph.
La Gazzetta dello Sport expects the deal to be officially announced within the next 48 hours.
