Juventus outcast linked to Derby and Leicester

Leicester City and Derby County may be about to begin a bidding war for forgotten Juventus right-back Marco Motta, according to the Italian press.

Marco Motta's career has stalled badly at Juventus and he might seek a fresh start in England with interest from Leicester City and Derby County.

Motta was always tipped as a great Italian defensive prospect for the future after representing Italy at every level from Under-16 to Under-21.

But the 28-year-old right-back never quite fulfilled his promise after Juventus pounced to snap him up from Udinese in 2010, initially on loan and then permanently.

Juventus have managed very well without Motta and sent him out on loan to Catania, Bologna and then Genoa, so an outright sale looks likely this summer.

The Italian champions are keen to streamline their squad, but they may have left Motta's position until now because they have been preoccupied with bigger deals.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Juventus know that Derby and Leicester are interested in the rejected defender and are awaiting an offer, which is yet to arrive.

Either side could be in for a bargain because Juventus are likely to jump at the chance to get rid of Motta, who has undoubted talent despite spending a few years in the doldrums.
