Manchester United linked Lucas Evangelista is set to sign with Hellas Verona.

A young midfielder linked with a move to Manchester United a year ago is to finally clinch his big move to Europe.

Lucas Evangelista was one of three Brazilians expected to join the Red Devils last summer, along with Bruno Gomes, and had been for a trial at Old Trafford in 2012.

The teenager had been playing for developmental side Desportivo Brasil, and had been tipped to join the Red Devils on their 2013 summer tour, but United's change over in management between Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes saw the deal fall through.

United did not pursue the player, who signed with Sao Paulo, and made 21 appearances for the Brazilian side last season.

Now 19, he has attracted interest from Serie A side Hellas Verona, and is scheduled to undertake a medical with the club this Friday, report Tuttomercato.

Verona were the side where Juan Iturbe made a huge success of himself last season, signing for Roma this summer for £25 million.

Evangelista has a chance to make a name for himself, and show United why they were wrong to pass up the option to sign him, and even convince them to revisit the possibility.

Should United have taken the gamble on Evangelista?
