Manchester United appear to have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Arturo Vidal.
The Chilean international is reported to have told his Juventus teammates that he has no plans to move at present.
SkyItalia journalist Sandro Sabatini reports on his website: "He told teammates, in Vinovo.Behind closed doors: "At this point I do not go away."
The report is in direct conflict with Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport's claim a day earlier that Vidal has a 'tentative agreement' with Manchester United to sign a five-year contract earning €8 million per season.
A change of heart? Perhaps. Or it's also possible Vidal has accepted that Juventus will simply refuse to sell him.
Through the summer he has allowed the situation to play itself out, publicly refusing to wholeheartedly commit to the Serie A champions.
Is it the end of the matter? No, purely as gossip and whispers have kept this saga alive all summer and there are still likely one or two turns left ahead, and only when deadline day is over, will we really know once and for all - but if it is true, United now have no option but to move on.
Should United now move on? Or was Vidal simply discussing the present, could a deal be in the pipeline?
