Ed Woodward reportedly has permission to go after more big deals at Manchester United.

The Daily Mail claims that Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has been given permission to spend big over the rest of the transfer window.

United flexed their financial muscles to secure a deal for Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid and are now thought to be looking at potential deals for Arturo Vidal of Juventus, Daley Blind of Ajax and William Carvalho of Sporting Lisbon.

“Van Gaal has made his needs clear in recent days and Woodward has permission from owners the Glazers to spend big once again after the British record £60m paid by United to Real Madrid for Angel Di Maria this week,” writes Ian Ladyman.

Vidal will be the priority but whether United have enough time left to get such a high profile and complicated deal done is debatable.

There is evidence that a deal for Carvalho could be slightly easier because reports suggesting Sporting have dropped his price suggest they’re open to cashing in on him before the end of the transfer window.

The problem comes in the form of Arsenal who have also been heavily linked with the player and who can now officially offer him Champions League football over the course of the season.

An even easier deal could be signing Blind from Ajax with comments from Director of Football Marc Overmars yesterday, suggesting that if United make the right offer, Ajax will do business with them.

It’s encouraging for United fans after a disappointing week because Woodward has the ammunition to go after other LvG approved deals, when it’s likely that the club will be forced into paying higher prices.

Every club knows Manchester United are looking for extra players and every club knows they can afford to pay for big deals as they have done throughout the summer so far as the deals for Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Marcos Rojo and Angel Di Maria all prove.

Do you think United will signing anyone else this summer?
