Manchester United are set to be very busy in the coming days, as Louis van Gaal looks set to ship out several of his fringe players whilst also bringing in some top talent before the Transfer Window slams shut on Monday.
It is reported by The Telegraph that van Gaal has informed Ed Woodward to sell Javier Hernandez, Anderson and Shinji Kagawa - whilst Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverely are also available to a decent suitor.
With the outgoings in motion it is Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho who they want to bring in to complete their summer business. They have been chasing Arturo Vidal, but may have now given up on him to ensure they beat Arsenal to the £24 million midfield dynamo.
However other reports, which emerged before the United interest gained momentum once again, suggested Arsenal would be winning the race for his signature. All signs point to a collision course battle between the two sides over this powerhouse midfielder.
Milan pushing hard for Torres
AC Milan are pushing hard to sign Fernando Torres from Chelsea on loan. The Spaniard is now third-choice striker at Stamford Bridge and Milan need a replacement for Mario Balotelli.
However there are many stumbling blocks to any deal. Firstly the Spaniard is said to not be receptive to a paycut.
Secondly, Jose Mourinho is reluctant to sell as he wants three top strikers at the club and thirdly, Diego Costa has picked up a hamstring strain which jeopardises any move.
Tottenham finalised a deal for Federico Fazio last night. The Sevilla defender has joined for £8 million and has penned a four-year deal.
Reports last night suggest Hull City may have beaten Brighton to the signature of the 'next Seamus Coleman' Brian Lenihan.
Sunderland have signed Inter Milan playmaker Ricky Alvarez on loan until the end of the season. They hope to buy him for £8.5 million at the end of the term.
Who will win the race for Carvalho?
