Spanish football expert Guillem Balague believes that Radamel Falcao’s agent is trying to get him a move away from Monaco to Arsenal, but it definitely will not happen.
In a Q&A session on Twitter for Bleacher Report, the Sky Sports pundit was clear in his statement that Falcao would not be joining the Gunners this summer.
He believes that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger doesn’t see signing a striker as a priority this summer as the Frenchman feels that he has enough goals from elsewhere in his squad.
Many Gunners supporters will be slightly concerned by this news as they were hoping to see a goalscorer switch to the Emirates Stadium before the end of the month.
Olivier Giroud, Arsenal's regular first-choice starter up front, has been ruled out for several weeks through injury, and it was anticipated that Wenger would be forced into the market because of this.
Falcao was reportedly one of the Frenchman’s targets this summer as he wants out of Monaco, but there is no chance of it happening, according to Balague.
The Colombian forward has not hit top form since leaving Atletico Madrid in a big-money deal to join the Ligue 1 side last summer (although he suffered a long-term injury in January), and it seems that he could move on – but there is a lack of interest from other clubs at the moment.
Arsenal had reportedly been quoted a price of €20 million just to take the powerful forward on loan for a season earlier in the transfer window.
When asked about any possible deal for Falcao in his press conference today, Wenger kept his cards close to his chest, simply saying: "It is very difficult to go into all that because once again all the negotiations need to be as secret as possible.”
