Leeds United fans react to Hockaday sacking on Twitter - 'That was inevitable'

Leeds United East Stand

Leeds United fans are almost unanimous in their thinking that sacking David Hockaday was a good idea.

Leeds United supporters are generally pleased by the club’s decision to sack David Hockaday.

The controversial head-coach lost his job yesterday after only 70 days at Elland Road last night.

He joined over the summer as Massimo Cellino’s first choice of boss after his takeover, but the task of being in charge at Leeds appeared to big for him from the out-set.

Hockaday’s only previous managerial experience had came in non-league with Forest Green Rovers and his selection was staggering.

As a result he was under pressure to get off to a good start, but the Whites' opening to the competitive season has been largely disappointing.

The club have won just one of their first four Championship matches and Wednesday’s night defeat to Bradford in the League Cup second round was the final straw for Cellino – who sacked Hockaday yesterday evening.

It is a decision that the majority of Leeds supporters have been waiting for after being thoroughly unimpressed by his brief time in charge and they are now hoping for a more experienced appointment to take charge.

Cellino has said that his next appointment is likely to be a British manager with Steve Clarke amongst the favourites, but Rolando Moran has also been linked with the job.

Whoever it is, Leeds supporters will be hoping they do a better job than their predecessor as they look to turn their season around and push on up the table.

Here is some of the best reaction to Hockaday’s sacking on Twitter.
