Leeds United have been linked with signing Daniele Dessena.

Daniele Dessena has become the latest name to become linked with Leeds United, with Tuttomercato reporting interest from the Championship side in the Cagliari man.

They cite 'strong pressure' from Massimo Cellino, now Leeds owner and formerly of Cagliari, to do a deal.

Here are five facts for Leeds fans to know about the potential addition:

1) Dessena has played 108 Serie A games for Cagliari and is a 27-year-old central midfielder.

2) He is a former Italian under-21 international, and also represented his nation at the 2008 Olympic Games.

3) He has UEFA Cup and Europa League experience, playing in the competition in it's different guises for both Sampdoria and Parma.

4) Playing in a holding midfield role last season, Dessena played 33 Serie A games but did not score a single goal despite attempting 22 shots, providing one assist.

5) He made 42 tackles and 51 interceptions last season, and was booked six times and sent off once.
