According to the German transfer website transfermarkt this is the history of the transfer fees paid and received by Real Madrid for their two most recent and high profile departees, Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria - who of course joined Arsenal and Manchester United respectively.
Mesut Ozil bought from Werder Bremen for £15.9 million.
Mesut Ozil sold to Arsenal for £44 million.
Angel Di Maria bought from Benfica for £29 million.
Angel Di Maria sold to Manchester United for £65.7 million.
Arsenal and Manchester United both broke their club record transfer fees to sign the pair of Real Madrid assist kings, and on both occasions Real Madrid fans were furious with the club's decision to let one of their hardest working and most popular players leave the club for European rivals in Arsenal and Manchester United.
But when you look at those fees, it is simple good business.
Collectively Madrid spent a whopping £44.9 million on the signatures of the Arsenal-United pair. But they sold them for a combined fee of £109.7 million, a slightly more whopping amount of cash for Florentino Perez to cash, or spend on James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos.
You can't argue with that.
Did Real do good business with this pair?
