Here are five of the best players linked with Manchester United over the past week.
Manchester United’s deal for Angel Di Maria has been criticised for what it cost the club, but it means United get a world class player as they look to patch up a poor start to the season.
There is pressure on Louis van Gaal and Ed Woodward to make further signings before Monday’s transfer deadline and that’s led to some links with top players from all over Europe.
We’ve looked at five of the best players linked with joining United this past week.
Arturo Vidal (Juventus)
The Chilean midfielder has been linked with United all summer and cynics will say if they were going to sign him, they would have already done a deal. Vidal would be a world class addition to the squad and someone who would create the presence which has been missing from United’s midfield.
William Carvalho (Sporting Lisbon)
Carvalho has been linked with United as a possible alternative to Vidal. Sporting reportedly dropped their price for the holding midfielder and United are one of the sides thought to be interested in a late move but it seemingly depends on whether a deal for Vidal is possible.
Daley Blind (Ajax)
Blind has been linked with United ever since the World Cup. He’d be a superb, versatile addition to the club’s midfield and could also provide cover at left-back. Ajax have dangled the carrot by admitting that they are happy to do business if United make the right sort of offer.
Fredy Guarin (Inter Milan)
Sport Witness ran a report earlier this week which detailed Fredy Guarin’s ‘dream’ to move to Manchester United. The Colombian has been linked with United on and off this year and it’s doubtful whether United will have enough time to pull off a deal. This could be one for the future.
Juan Cuadrado (Fiorentina)
Another Colombian star to have strongly been linked with a move to United this summer. Reports earlier this week suggested that Barca were no longer interested in him. The stumbling block is that United are currently using a system where they don’t use a winger.
Do you expect United to sign anyone else this summer?
