The Newcastle United boss took on the charity challenge, while the newly called-up England midfielder needed two sittings to complete it.

Newcastle fans - Alan Pardew has taken on the ALS Ice Bucket challenge!

As can be seen above, after a few moments of suspense, the Magpies boss was drenched in the name of charity as his turn to undertake the famous challenge finally came around.

And Pardew was joined by newly called-up England midfielder Jack Colback - who was considerably more animated during his turn.

Colback moved to St James' Park from Sunderland this summer and has been in fine form during Newcastle's opening two Premier League games.

Those performances, as well as those of last season, have earned him a place in Roy Hodgson's England squad, although he wasn't exactly on his best form during the Ice Bucket challenge!

Indeed, Colback needed two sittings to withstand the drenching, while he swore in frustration more than once during the process.

Meanwhile, boss Pardew has told reporters that Newcastle will have to sell existing squad members if they are to sign any more players this transfer window.

When asked about the possibility of any more signings arriving on Tyneside, the 53-year-old told reporters: “I’m going to stay pretty neutral and boring on that subject.

“We still have our fingers very much on the button, on whether there is a transfer which works for us. What I would say is the roster is full at our club, which is a problem for us.

“We need to create some room, so there might be one or two that go. Whether there are one or two who arrive we will have to wait and see.”

Is Newcastle's squad good enough without any more signings?
